Tis the time to look back on a year which has been, for me, one of significant changes; both family and work. As December 31st approaches I can sit back and say that it has been worth it and that I am very happy. Moving regions, making new friends, enjoying all that the #Wairarapa has to offer and rebuilding a business has been very fulfilling.
Adding the #drone to my real estate photography services has definitely opened a few avenues. There is nothing like seeing a familiar scene from a new angle to appreciate the difference it makes to marketing photography.
Renewing contacts with the likes of Sir Peter Bush was lovely as Brian and I captured his photograph using the #wetplate collodion process. He enjoyed the experience, and we enjoyed his company and stories! To top it off we saw an article about that day in The Photographers Mail magazine just out.
Houses have come in all shapes, sizes and conditions! From grand mansions to motel studio units. Owners have been pleasant (“cup of tea dear?”), tenants accommodating (on the whole) and the majority of agents have been professional and lovely to partner with. Brian and I have travelled to #PalmerstonNorth and Wanganui, across to #Riversdalebeach and gone as far south as #Wharekauhau. Roll on 2016!
Some memorable moments in #Carterton have included being part of the GoCarterton initiative to refurbish some tired shop fronts along our main street. Led by #architect Gregg Crimp and assisted by about 100 volunteers, we made an impact along High St!
Seeing the book I researched and wrote about the 65-year history of CB Norwood Distributors published and launched was a real buzz. Keen to tell the tale of another organisation’s legacy! see Storyfarmers website
Coming up in 2016 I am taking the plunge and exhibiting some of my photographic work in various locations around Carterton. I have a personal project yet to fully develop and will definitely be at various Fairs and art-based events in the region, especially the hugely successful Wai-Art weekend culminating in Daffodil Day (September).
